A Variety of Learning Environments for the Early Adolescent

Northcross provides a number of different class options that suit a range of learning styles. We have a learning environment that best fits your child.
ESOL
Northcross has a classroom and two teachers dedicated to teaching students with English as a second langauge

 

CWSN

Teacher assistants work with the individuals and small groups of students and special programmes are also put in place in the classrooms.

Our school counsellor is available four days a week to support with their concerns and emotional needs. Applications for this student support can be made by parents, teachers or by student referral.

Single Class

Upon enrolment we are able to ascertain the needs and strengths of prospective students and endeavour to match student, teacher and learning environment that best suits the individual learner.

Twin Class

In a Twin Class two teachers take a Year 7 and a Year 8 class through a two-year programme. If possible, the composition of the class and the teachers remain unchanged. It is imporatnt to note that spaces may be limited. As this is a two year programme these students are not eligable to apply for the Sports or Performing Arts classes for Year 8.

Sports Class

The sports class is similar in make up to a single cell class yet with the curriculum delivered using sport, physical education, fitness and health as the learning context. The class roll is approx 32 students with one very enthusiastic teacher who is keen to see students take their sporting expertise and academic achievements to higher levels and across a range of disciplines. Digital Class

IT is incorporated across the whole curriculum on a daily basis.

Northcross has up to 11 Digital Classes and as demand for these learning spaces has grown so to have we increased the number of classes available. Please let the office know if your child is interested in being a part of a DC.

Independent Learning Class

Our ILC class is a two teacher classroom for a  Year 7 class and Year 8 class which are staffed by carefully chosen teachers and are designed for those students who can cope with an independent learning programme. The students selected need to be divergent thinkers, capable of self discipline and initiative. Continue reading
