Northcross provides a number of different class options that suit a range of learning styles. We have a learning environment that best fits your child.

Independent Learning Class

We provide two classes in a two year programme which are staffed by carefully chosen teachers. The environment is designed for those who can cope with an independent learning programme.

Digital Class

Students in a Digital Class will use IT as a major tool in their learning. Each class has enough computers for a ratio of 2 students to a computer. IT is incorporated across the whole curriculum on a daily basis.

Sports Class

At the end of Year 7, students who have a talent and commitment to physical education and sport are encouraged to apply for a place in the Year 8 Sports Class.

For those who have a preference for learning in a twin classroom, we can offer an alternative system that suits those who are self starters and who can take control of most aspects of their learning.

Single Class

At Northcross we have a majority of single-teacher classrooms, where students normally have their own desk, chair and classroom space. All classes have access to a range of resources that support a full and innovative learning programme.

At Northcross we recognise that students have a wide range of abilities and emotional needs. Those students with special needs (CWSN) are identified at the start of the year.

Gifted and Talented Students

At Northcross we strive towards identifying our Gifted and Talented Students through using a multi identification programme. From this the school will offer extension programmes for students who have a recognised talent.

Performing Arts Class: New for 2010

At the end of Year 7 2009, students who had a talent and commitment to specific aspects of the Performing Arts were encouraged to apply for a place in the new Year 8 Performing Arts Class to be established in 2010.
