Band Programme

Northcross has a range of bands where students can use their musical talents in a performance situation.

Northcross offers lessons in all band/orchestra instruments during school hours with a weekly cost for tuition. Keyboard, guitar and drum tuition is also available at the school.
Northcross operates a Stage Band for beginners and a Concert Band for those with some experience. These groups offer great chances for students to make a start with instrumental work. Every year the groups have the opportunity to play at other schools and on public occasions. The bands and orchestra practise each Friday morning.
Students, drawn from the Concert Band, are also involved in an annual Te Awamutu music exchange in October. Students also take part in small group activities - the Jazz band, Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet groups, performing at many venues in and out of school. Rock groups are also a feature. All instrumental performance groups have become more and more popular recently. The Choir takes part in local Music Festivals each year and performs at other public functions and competitions.
