The Northcross Intermediate U45kg team attended the NH Champs Boys Rugby Zone Day at Hato Petera last week with high hopes of taking back the NH Title they have made their own in the last decade.The day kicked off with a convincing win against Wairau 35-0.A fiery, committed and tough Mahurangi team gave us a real run for our money; final score 15-5.We played Mahurangi again in the Semi Final. The boys did particularly well and we ground out a 20-0 victory. In the Final we were to face a very skilled, talented and well drilled Rosmini outfit. Rosmini had been thrashing everyone all day and were last year’s champions. It was certainly going to be a cracker of a game and it was a mouthwatering prospect facing our old rivals!A war ensued with the game 0-0 after fulltime, 0-0 after extra time, 0-0 after the second extra time.Finally, Markku Venter was to score the winning try and send the lads into absolute ecstasy! I would just like to thank the Rosmini players, coaches and supporters for the outstanding spirit in which the game was played. I would also like to pay special tribute to our supportive parents too; you were magnificent and such a big help. Thanks heaps!
