Cheerleading Information

General Info

Allstar cheerleading is an electrifying team sport where athletes perform high-energy, choreographed routines combining tumbling, stunts (lifts), jumps, and dance to music. Cheerleaders bring routines to life through powerful energy, sharp movements, and dynamic facials that engage the crowd and judges. Success in cheerleading requires teamwork, athleticism, dedication, and synchronization as athletes work together to bring a polished routine to the competition floor.

The cheerleading season runs throughout the entire school year, beginning with trials in Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 1. We are training for 3 competitions that take place in Terms 3 and 4. This is an exciting year-long commitment that will challenge you to grow as an athlete and teammate. Consistent attendance at all practices is essential to ensure the team can perform safely and successfully at competitions.

Training Schedule

  • Monday mornings before school
  • Thursday lunchtimes
  • Three weekend practices at the local cheer gym in preparation for competitions
  • Additional practice at home to master the routine

A competitive team of 18-20 athletes will be selected based on trials. While previous experience in dance, cheerleading, or gymnastics is highly valued, we welcome all students with natural ability, energy, and determination to succeed.

If you're ready to be part of an energetic team, challenge yourself, and experience the thrill of competition, cheerleading offers an unforgettable experience that will push you to new heights!"

Please note: all costs, event dates, and times will be updated as soon as they are available.

Selection process

We go through a very thorough selection process to finalise our teams and players will be placed in a team that our selectors have determined best suits their ability and experience. While inevitably there will be some movement of players, both up and down teams, it is important to remember that this movement can be a result of the following factors:

  • New players who didn’t play last year can also create movement for other players, especially if they are placed in a higher team, resulting in other players moving down to a lower team.
  • Individual development and growth over the summer months. If individual players have put in an extra effort and completed additional training over the holiday, this can definitely show during trials, resulting in higher performance on the court and some movement between teams.

We understand that some students will have questions regarding the trial process and eventually the team selection – if your child does, please ask them to see Anna in the sports office.

As per our Sports Selection Policy, no correspondence regarding team selection will be entered into. If you wish to view it, please download the document at the bottom of this page.

Coaches, managers & umpires

The Cheerleading team does not require a coach. If we need a manager at a future date, we will advise the squad.

All coaches and managers are required to be police vetted by Northcross. If you are keen to take on one of these roles and have not yet been police vetted by our school, please email the Sport Department and we will send you through the relevant forms to fill out.
