Athlete Development Academy

At athlete development we want kiwi kids to be the most capable young people in the world when it comes to engaging with physical activity and sports.

By helping to develop kids who are robust and resilient, we allow them to avoid injury and make the most of training and games. Building confidence and independence allows kids to improve their problem-solving skills and deal with difficult situations as they arise in any setting. By growing athletic and competent movers, we allow kids to be the best they can be.

HOCKEY

March 2026

My name is Marijke and I am the Youth Club Captain for North Shore United Hockey Club (NSU), which is one of the clubs located at North Harbour Hockey (NHH) in Albany.

A new Youth Grade Competition has been introduced this year. The purpose of this competition is to assist clubs in recruiting future members and player development, and it is a great way to start a future allegiance to North Harbour Senior club hockey.

NSU Youth Club Trials will be held on Sunday 15 March 2026
- Boys 10:30am - 12:00pm on H1
- Girls 12:30pm - 2:00pm on H1
Please register your child via the link below beforehand:

Feel free to share the link far and wide!!

Youth Grade winter hockey runs throughout Term 2 from 19 April to 28 June 2026 and is played at NHH on Sunday mornings.

To be eligible for participation in the Youth Grade Winter Competition, players must be in years 8-10 (& new-to-hockey year 11)

NSU fees for the season will be $250 per child and this includes a new uniform top (which needs to be handed back at the end of the season)

Players will be required to wear their own navy or black bottoms & NSU socks (available for purchase at Go Hockey in William Pickering Dr, Albany) They will also require their own stick, shin pads and mouth guard (and will not be allowed to play without mouth guards!).

Training sessions will be confirmed once we know how many teams we have.

Each club is allowed one Boys A & one Girls A team and as many B Grade teams as required to accommodate registered players (no mixed gender teams). Players ARE allowed to trial for more than one club if they choose to. NSU are hoping to have enough players to form one A and one B team for each gender.

Year 9: WILL NOT be allowed to play in the Senior Club competition.
Year 10: If a student played in the 2025 Senior Club competition, they will have to choose between the Youth competition or staying in the Senior competition - they will not be allowed to play in both, but might be able to join the Senior competition after the Youth competition finishes.
Year 11: Allowed to play in the Youth competition if they are inexperienced and not confident playing in the Senior Club competition, but clubs must first reach out to NHH to confirm eligibility.

Thank you
Marijke
