Auckland Museum ANZAC Poetry Competition

This year we were thrilled to have three winners in the Auckland War Memorial Museum’s ‘Lest We Forget’ annual poetry competition. The theme for this year invited entrants to reflect on the enduring human impact of war. The 2025 focus, Resilient Bonds: War’s Human Legacy, called for poems that explored the lasting relationships forged in times of conflict—connections that span generations, geography, and loss. There were many entries submitted from around the country and a panel of judges had the challenging task of selecting the winners. Congratulations to Madisa and Oskar, who were winners in the age 11 and under category, and Emily who was a winner in the age 12-17 category. All three represented Northcross with pride and had the honour of reading their winning poems in the Hall of Memories in a special ceremony on ANZAC day. This was an experience they and their families will remember for many years to come.
