Director of International Students – Sharon Hines
Sharon Hines is Northcross Intermediate's Director of International Students. She has been working at Northcross since 2005. A passion for teaching English, and interest in other cultures led Sharon to gain a Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults. She has also worked for the Volunteer Migrant service and The ESOL Home Teacher Service.
Sharon thoroughly enjoys her role as Director, working with the International students and their parents to ensure the children receive the best possible in pastoral care and a worthwhile NZ experience. She retains a genuine interest in other cultures, languages and travel.

International Student Coordinator – Sang Wook (Chris) Park
Having grown up in New Zealand while also being raised in an Asian family, I have a strong understanding of both Western and Asian cultures. I have also studied in Beijing and have experience working with Chinese students, which helps me connect with students from diverse backgrounds. With over a decade of experience as an English tutor and education consultant, I have worked with students from Year 6 to Year 13 across a wide range of academic levels. I am fluent in both English and Korean, and I am also able to communicate in Chinese which allows me to support a wider range of students and families.

Head of ESOL – Linda Edwards
I have a strong background in teaching, with experience in both primary and intermediate schools across different locations in New Zealand. This has allowed me to work with a wide range of students and develop targeted programmes to suit their diverse learning needs. I have led teams of teachers and currently lead the ESOL team—a role I find both enjoyable and rewarding. It gives me the opportunity to work with students from many different cultures around the world, enriching both their learning and my own professional practice.

Korean First Language Support – Kyung ae Sim
Mrs Sim is part of our Learning Support Staff here at Northcross Intermediate and is a valued member of the International Student Department supporting our Korean students. Kyung ae has extensive experience in working with students of all ages. She has had more than 20 years of experience teaching maths through academies and private tutoring.

Chinese First Language Support – Melanie Yang
Melanie Yang is a valuable member of both our ELIP (ESOL) Team and International Team. She also teaches Mandarin at Northcross. With over 20 years teaching experience in NZ and China, Melanie also offers private Maths, English & Chinese lessons at her home. Melanie has been an important and valued member of the International Team for many years offering support to both parents and students. She works at the school Monday to Friday. Students can see Melanie at school and parents can contact Melaine via her email or WeChat address.

After School Support Teacher – Amelia Webster
Amelia has been a teacher at Northcross since August of 2024. She has her own class of 30 students Monday-Friday and runs the After School Support class for our international students twice weekly. Amelia thoroughly enjoys her time with second language learners and in turn the students enjoy her fun, friendly teaching style.
