Kia ora Northcross Parents and Whānau,

As we move into Term 3, our students remain focused and continue to embrace every challenge. This term includes important transition visits, as we welcome prospective students from our contributing schools and support our Year 8s visiting their respective colleges for 2027.

Outside of these transitions, our learning schedule remains full and purposeful. All classes have now visited MOTAT, exploring how the Industrial Revolution reshaped the modern world, drawing a clear parallel to the AI revolution we are experiencing today. Through this lens, our students are investigating the skills, critical thinking, and adaptability they will need to thrive in 2030 and beyond.

You will recently have received your child’s new report, which has been updated to align with the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum. We hope these give you a clear picture of your child’s learning journey and progress. We value your partnership in your child’s education, so we will soon be sending out a brief questionnaire to gather your thoughts. Any feedback you can provide will be greatly appreciated as we continue to refine our reporting processes.

This drive to take on new challenges has been evident right across the school. The energy and talent at our recent Band Quest was quite outstanding, and the speech finals demonstrated an exceptionally high standard of creative thinking and public speaking. At the same time, our sporting teams continue to represent Northcross with pride, determination and sportsmanship in their competitions (hoping they have some fun along the way!)

Finally, our annual Fun Run on Friday 28 August is fast approaching, and we want to acknowledge the incredible support our community has shown over the years. Your generosity has contributed majorly to our school infrastructure, including our covered courts and adventure playground. Looking ahead, the Board of Trustees has agreed to cover the Tiger Turf, allowing these courts to be used all year round. Funds raised from this year’s Fun Run will certainly help finance this exciting project.
