NX SPORT UPDATE - TUESDAY 5 MAY
We have had a few questions regarding Intermediate Sport and what this will look like in the near future so here's an update with the information that has been provided so far.
Firstly, as you will be aware, in order to keep everyone safe and prevent the spread of Covid-19, the recommencement of sport in general will only happen when we have been given the green light from the Government. When this happens, different organisational sporting bodies, e.g. Netball NZ, NZ Waterpolo, NZ Hockey, will then decide how to move forward within their specific sports code based on the guidelines and recommendations that the Government will lay out.
This information will then be communicated to the Regional Sports Organisations such as Netball NH, Harbour Hockey, NH Waterpolo, Harbour Basketball, etc. From here, these organisations, who are responsible for running the NH Intermediate Competitions, will communicate the essential details pertaining to the start of the Competition with participating schools.
This is a complex process, one that takes time as it is important that the safety of our students is priority. Most of these organisations have been working very hard over these past few weeks, to assess and ready different scenarios so they can put into place the best one when given the go ahead.
For Auckland InterZone and North Harbour Zone Days, the decision has been made that all Term 2 NH and InterZone Events are cancelled. This decision was made in consultation with the AAIMS Principals Executive and the AAIMS Sports Council. A meeting will be held at the beginning of June to review Level 2 documentation to plan for Term 3, with the hope of getting some sport up and running then.
We will continue to update our Parents/Caregivers as any further information about the continuation of Intermediate Sport comes to hand.
Many thanks for your patience and understanding. Stay safe.
Northcross prides itself on being a top sporting school. We believe in the value of Sport and the positive impact it has on our students during the two years they are with us. We value and promote healthy competition and believe that new skills, attitudes and character is built through these sporting experiences.
We offer a vast number of sporting codes across a variety of different levels for both boys and girls and are exceptionally lucky to have a number of committed staff and parents who volunteer their time and effort to organise the implementation of different sports teams into North Harbour, Auckland, National tournaments, Weekly and/or Social competitions.
Every year we send teams to AIMS - a National Sporting Tournament held in Tauranga in September. Last year 200 NX students competed in their chosen sport. We have had great success in this tournament over the last 10 years, especially with our Boys Football team who have won the title of National Champions six times.

Every student who plays a sport at Northcross Intermediate, and their parent/caregiver, must read, sign and return a copy of our Fairplay Code of Conduct.
