How to Register for NX Touch

Firstly, you need to read this info sheet very carefully & have it with you when registering on the Google Form. The Google form can be found on the Daily Notices. When you register it has to be done with your (student) NX gmail account.

You will then need to attend as many trials as possible to be seen. We understand you have other commitments, but the more we see you, the easier it is for us to place you in a team!

You have only one option when it comes to Northcross Touch 2025:

  1. Competitive-You can trial for a team and we put you in a team according to your ability level, NOT whether you are Year 7 or Year 8.

Competitive Teams

You will need to attend trials. You will then be put into a team according to your ability (so might be Y7 and Y8’s in the team) and your team will be appointed a coach (if we have enough coaches for the amount of players trialing).

Please also note that if you do not make our Boys/Girls A Teams,  as we are not entering a Mixed A team into the Weekly Competition, the Mixed A Team for the North Harbour Champs Zone Day  will be selected from our Boys B and our Girls B.  There will be a separate trial for this team as well as observations of the first two rounds of the Weekly Comp.

Once you have decided if you are playing then it is simply a case of registering via the Google Form (see link button below) Payment is made via the Online Shop. You will have to Register before you pay!

Selection process

We go through a very thorough selection process to finalise our teams and players will be placed in a team that our selectors have determined best suits their ability and experience. While inevitably there will be some movement of players, both up and down teams, it is important to remember that this movement can be a result of the following factors:

  • New players who didn’t play last year can also create movement for other players, especially if they are placed in a higher team, resulting in other players moving down to a lower team.
  • Individual development and growth over the summer months. If individual players have put in an extra effort and completed additional training over the holiday, this can definitely show during trials, resulting in higher performance on the court and some movement between teams.

We understand that some students will have questions regarding the trial process and eventually the team selection – if your child does, please ask them to see Anna in the sports office.

As per our Sports Selection Policy, no correspondence regarding team selection will be entered into. If you wish to view it, please download the document at the bottom of this page.

Coaches, managers & umpires

Each Touch team will need a coach and manager. If we cannot get enough coaches we will have to reduce the number of teams and unfortunately some children may miss out on playing. If you are interested in being a coach or manager for Touch, please indicate this on registration.

All coaches and managers are required to be police vetted by Northcross. If you are keen to take on one of these roles and have not yet been police vetted by our school, please email the Sport Department and we will send you through the relevant forms to fill out.
